When it comes to brands that inspire me, there are too many to count!
But I’ve curated a few of our creme de la crop choices that I hold dear to my heart. Today, I will talk about six brands that have inspired both me personally and my brand Kalon SF.
A brand all the fashion forward lust after, a brand even the novice fashionista recognizes. Chanel truly defines what it means to be a “timeless brand”.
In fact, Chanel is synonymous with class herself. What I admire most about Chanel is its ability to remain a perennial classic while constantly evolving with modern women’s needs.
With an ever changing ocean of trends, Chanel has managed to stay true and consistent to who they are and their brand: chic and luxurious– appealing to diverse customer demographics. As an entrepreneur with her own start-up brand, I know the importance of relevance and can only wish the same success for Kalon SF or any other business I start up in the future.
This brand tops my list. Founded in 2014, Glossier is relatively new to the beauty industry. Glossier had a unique start; initially a beauty blog, “Into the Gloss,” it gained such a huge following that a beauty brand was started. I second Glossier’s mission of “skin first, makeup second”, as the brand emphasizes skincare over using makeup.
With affordable price points, a fun fresh voice behind the brand, and inclusivity ads showcasing women of all sizes and colors wearing Glossier, the brand stands out from the rest. Glossier’s signature dewy and minimalistic makeup looks great on diverse women, and has garnered an impressive “It girl” cult-status following.
A brand so influential, Jay-Z dedicated a whole song to it. Tom Ford is known for their makeup, but their incredible lipsticks are divine.
We all have makeup that we partly bought because the packaging grabbed our attention. Tom Ford is one of those brands! Aside from making me feel beautiful and confident (who doesn’t always want to feel like this?!), what I admire most about this coveted brand is their luxurious packaging. If you’re surprised, then check them out next time you’re at a department store!
Tom Ford’s packaging is to die for. Minimalistic black and gold packaging casing your favorite shade of lipstick screams sophisticated luxury. Tom Ford aligns with my classic refined style. Every time I pull out my Tom Ford lipstick to reapply, I feel like a million bucks.
Ahhh, Benefit Cosmetics.
Anyone else feel relaxed browsing around the pink happiness that is a Benefit store? Benefit Cosmetics has made a name for themselves with their incredible mascara, bronzers, and their popular brow bar, of course. I love Benefit’s girly, slightly retro, and incredibly cute aesthetic. A faithful brow bar customer for years now, there’s no one else I’d trust for perfectly full and arched eyebrows!
Founded in 1960, Valentino has exuded class and punk rock edginess for almost 60 years .
Valentino makes me feel both trendy and stylish! Known for their popular rock stud heels and purses, Valentino is my go-to when I want to look feminine with a side of bad-ass attitude! I am constantly in awe of their unique clash between elegance and trend. Valentino’s unique marriage of these juxtaposed qualities means it will never go out of style. I not only admire Valentino’s style but their progressiveness as a high-fashion couture brand.
Valentino is going through a transformation under creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, who believes that “the only way to make couture alive today is to embrace different women’s identities and cultures”.
But what inspires me the most about Sephora is not only their products but their mission. Sephora as a company believes in championing all beauty, living with courage, and standing fearlessly together to celebrate our differences. We will never stop building a community where diversity is expected, self-expression is honored, all are welcomed, and you are included. At Sephora, we believe beauty is yours to define and ours to celebrate. Together, we support and encourage bold choices in beauty – and in life.
Despite the fall of many brick and mortars, in-store technologies such as facial scanning and personalized product services catapult Sephora beyond the boring valley of outdated mall makeup isles and ensure the brand’s success! Check out my newest blog cataloging my experience working at Sephora’s corporate office.
In the past, my experiences with women in the work field have not always been pleasant due to lack of professionalism or the unfortunate case of corporate nepotism. However, Sephora has changed my perspective of working with empowered women. It’s a company that has inspired me personally and professionally.
It is exciting to see women being kind and supporting of one another, which is a working model that perfectly aligns with Kalon SF’s mission!
As contrasting as these brands may seem, they compliment each other. Each of these six brands mean something different to me and create significance in my life. Through their missions, these brands make up various aspects of myself and who I am.
